Every individual believer counts, and every believer’s development is extremely vital. That’s why we’ve put together Hope Roots. Hope Roots is the first step; it’s THE way to get plugged in to the body at Hope Church. This tool is a multi-faceted discipleship course that is separated into three parts: Pursue, Embrace, and Transform. Throughout this course, we solidify the foundations of our faith, help individuals grow through applied spiritual disciplines, and give each believer hands-on experience at what we’re called to do as disciples of Christ. Each part of the course is deep, challenging, and practical. So whether you’re new to Christ or have walked with the Lord for years, Hope Roots is for you.
At the beginning of each course, we give you an in-depth look at what Hope is about. You’ll hear a little about how we got started, what we believe, what our mission is, and even get a chance to ask one of the pastors questions you may have. Hold on, though, because after the first night, things begin to pick up speed dramatically!
This section is designed to solidify your knowledge of the fundamental truths of the gospel. It gives you the “who” of our quest and sets our sights firmly on the most important aspects of Christianity. After taking this class, you should know who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit really are, and what they want from you. You should also be able to answer questions like, “How do you know Jesus is God’s son?”, “Don’t all roads lead to God – why not?”, “Why is Christianity the ‘right’ way?”, “How do I know if God has forgiven me?”, and “What does the Holy Spirit do and why is it important?”
This section equips believers with the tools they need to grow in their life of faith. It gives an in-depth look at the bible, prayer, and worship, and how each of them should function in our lives. You will learn what the bible says about spiritual disciplines, and will be challenged to make them a part of your everyday life. After taking this class, you should know exactly how to embrace the things of God and grow in your relationship with Him. You should also be able to answer questions like, “How do I know if something is from God?”, “Are ‘tongues’ or ‘spiritual languages’ for today, and how should they be used?”, “Why are people so demonstrative during a worship service – does it line up with the Bible?”, and “How should I pray?”
This fast-paced section empowers believers with practical knowledge and hands-on experience centered around things that Jesus taught us to do. It provides participants with unique encounters that will help to change the way they look at the world. After taking this class, you should begin to notice a transformation in your character and the way you go about living life. You should also know how to lead someone to Christ, how to pray for the sick, what it means to represent Christ in our world, and where and how to use your gifts, talents, and time inside and outside of the church.
