Our Story
Learn about Hope
why we're here...
In December of 1993, Pastor Gary, Judi, and their two young children moved back to Springfield in response to a very specific and unexpected invitation from the Lord. The Lord had spoken very clearly to Pastor Gary & Judi that they were to “build a church for the beat-up, burned-out… those who have been hurt in life and hurt in church”. The Lord also gave him a great assurance that “He had a pent-up desire to pour out His Spirit” on the people of our community.
A little about hope
Hope was launched as a non-denominational church, with a group of five families on Christmas Eve, December 1993. Quickly, larger facilities were needed and eventually, our current property was built. We have recently finished our second expansion and are greatly looking forward to what the Lord has in store for Hope in the days, weeks, and years to come. Expansions in space have been accompanied by significant expansions of service in our community as well as to many nations beyond our borders and we passionately look forward to increasing those efforts until the day of the Lord’s return. To this day, our prayer remains: “Let your Kingdom come, let Your will be done, on earth just as it is in Heaven.” This is our passion… this is our pursuit!
What we believe
The Bible is the inspired and only infallible Word of God.
There is only one true God, eternally existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and the God the Holy Spirit.
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory.
The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.
Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
In the believer’s baptism as taught in the Holy Scriptures: Mtt 28:19, Act 8:36-38
In the resurrection of both the saved and lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
meet the leadership team
Guests often tell us how open, friendly, and welcoming individuals at Hope are. However, we get most excited as we repeatedly hear visitors say, “I can feel the Spirit of God here.” Everything we do as a team is designed to make that same response possible for everyone that walks through our doors.
